Författaren till "I Jesu fotspår", Peter Walker", föreläser på Bildas studiecenter i Jerusalem torsdag den 14 april kl 17:00. Föredraget handlar om hur kristna uppfattar Jerusalem och "heliga platser". Det blir en jämförelse mellan Nya testamentet, den bysantinska kyrkan och nutid.
The Swedish Christian Study Centre (SCSC) has the pleasure to invite you to a public lecture by Dr Peter Walker on Christian approaches to Jerusalem and the “Holy places”: in the New Testament, the Byzantine Church and today. His lecture will be held at the SCSC at Jaffa Gate in the Old City. Refreshments will be served from 4:30 pm.
Dr Peter Walker lectures in New Testament studies and Biblical Theology at Wycliffe Hall in the University of Oxford. He has a special interest in the historical Jesus and issues associated with Jerusalem and Middle East. He is qualified as a tour guide around the Holy Land.
Walker studied Classics at Cambridge and then did his doctoral research in Early Church History. His thesis was an investigation into the development of interest in the Holy Land during the early Constantinian period. It was examined by Rowan Williams (later Archbishop of Canterbury) and it was later published as Holy City? Holy Places? In 1996, he published a sequel volume: Jesus and the Holy City, New Testament Perspectives on Jerusalem.
Other more recent books include The Weekend that Changed the World, In the Steps of Jesus, In the Steps of Saint Paul and The Lion Guide to the Bible.
